Timeline
Development of the Wallula Resource Energy Center is underway. Bringing
the Project from preliminary engineering through construction will take
five years.
Pending successful completion or technical and economic feasibility
studies, the following is a projected timeline for bringing the project to
completion:
- Project announcement & community outreach initiated (Spring 2007)
- Basalt sequestration demonstration in conjunction with the Big Sky Carbon Sequestration Partnership (Summer 2007)
- Air emissions testing at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' demonstration plant in Nakoso, Japan (Fall 2007)
- Application filed at Washington EFSEC (Fall 2008)
- Site Certification Agreement (Fall 2009)
- PPAs and financing completed (2009)
- Construction initiated (Spring 2010)
- Plant commissioned (Spring 2014)
